The location of the house is in the heart of the Medina (old city)close to the souks and only about 8-10 minutes walk from the famous and vibrating Djemaa El Fna square. The house, partly modernized and redecorated, consists of one main double bedroom with en-suite bathroom, one other double bedroom and one single bedroom on the ground floor and one double bedroom on the first floor, all with shared facilities. Most rooms are simply decorated with local furnishings and carpets. As with all Moroccan traditional houses, the open, tiled courtyard - containing potted plants - is in the middle and the rooms on the sides.A medium sized tiled and well equipped kitchen has a washing machine should you need to have anything washed during your stay.For those wishing to do a little sunbathing, there is a large terrace with a pergola, also an ideal place to take afternoon tea or coffee. From there one can see the nearby 'Moulay Idriss Palace' and, on a clear day, view the Atlas mountains.Dar Mauresque will give you tranquillity and privacy, at the same time you can be independent.Personalized and specially tailored tours are provided by your host Ken, a long time resident of Marrakech, using his vast knowledge of the terrain, culture and language to suit your requirements.
Comment se rendre à l'hôtel - Dar Mauresque GuesthouseIf you come by taxi from the airport you ask the driver for Cafe de France where you get off. Please note that after 13.00 (1PM) no vehicles can enter the square and you can then ask the driver to drop you off by the old French consulate . From there you walk accross the square to the Cafe de France. Just a few meters from the cafe you will find the start of one of Marrakech's locally well known streets, Derb Dabachi. Continue down this street and little over half way to the house you will find the turn-off for Derb Jdid on the right easily recognized by the arch at the start of the street. Should you find this rather complicated the first time, don't worry, someone will meet you at the Cafe de France and take you to the house. If you wish to be met at the airport this can be arranged upon request. |
